"The only social media I like these days is Twitter."

Transcript:

The only social media I like these days is Twitter. And it's really funny to say that, because I think Twitter is probably one of the most toxic social media apps, there are. A lot of them, you know, have their pros and cons. But I think for me, I am enjoying Twitter, because I feel like on Twitter, I'm allowed to be sad. On Twitter, I'm allowed to be disappointed. On Twitter, I'm allowed to be upset. And it's not something I feel like I'm allowed to on other online spaces, and I don't really quite know why that is. I just feel like if I were to actually post the thoughts I have on Twitter onto Instagram, people are just gonna think like, I'm really weird, or like, really, quote, unquote, negative. But for some reason, you know, on Twitter, I can just share my thoughts. And people are usually sympathetic, you know, people are usually really kind and sympathetic, and I don't feel like I need to prove myself, I don't feel like I will need to revisit that tweet or that post and say, like, oh, now I'm doing better. And here's like, an inspirational story or lesson, the way I feel like on other apps. And especially on Instagram, I feel like this pressure to portray even problems or troubles to portray in sort of like a positive light, or to give a lesson. And so that is why as funny as it is, I like Twitter lately. And with the people I'm following, and sort of the feed that I've curated on Twitter, a lot of people are like me in that they are upset at the world, or they just see issues, and are just expressing, you know, their frustrations, or just you know, just how they're feeling, right. And I just find that there's something really cool about that, like, I love that people are expressing how they're doing how they're really doing. And it's not, you know, it's not something that I think the other apps really encourage funny enough.

And I know that, you know, you can use social media however you want, right. But for me, I just don't feel like I could really be myself on Instagram, which is so interesting, since that is the place where I have like the most followers and have posted the most and whatnot. But it feels Instagram feels like I'm going like into work. And I have to like put on like a professional persona. Whereas I think on Twitter, and also my account is private so that definitely helps, is that I feel I can I can go on and just just kind of be with myself and my weird, my weird friends sort of, it's kind of how it feels. So yeah, those are some of my thoughts on social media these days.

I wonder how others feel, you know, I imagine a lot of people find enjoyment in TikTok, that's something I've been hearing a lot people really love TikTok really love... And, you know, reels or shorts, however, they might be called on a different app. And I know some people don't like Instagram, but then I also know that some people gain a lot from Instagram. You know, there's a lot of cool content on there. If you happen to like videos, or reels or notice long carousel posts that can be really educational. But most people, I think, at least folks I talked to are not on Facebook as much, which is interesting. I had a friend who was telling me that she thinks that Twitter and TikTok are better because you can sort of curate your feed in a way that works for you. And it isn't, the algorithm isn't owned by, you know, Facebook and the Metaverse or whatever. And, yeah, I don't know. Just something interesting that's been on my mind this week.
